Are you using non-toxic cleaners? DIY Bathroom Products Part 2 (VIDEO)

Are you using non-toxic cleaners? DIY Bathroom Products Part 2 (VIDEO)

In this segment, Suncear demonstrates the different ingredients that can be used to clean the different areas of the bathroom and they are chemical free, non toxic, nature friendly and are available in our kitchen.

1. Sink Cleaner - sprinkle baking soda and squeeze lemon juice (good for treating stains) on to it and use a sponge to clean the sink (you don’t even have to use gloves), or (you can make a paste out of baking soda and lemon juice).

2. Faucets cleaner (chrome) – mix 50-50 vinegar and water and wipe it on the faucets followed by polishing with newspaper. Although vinegar can have a peculiar smell, it would go once it dries up. Most important thing to remember: vinegar is an excellent  disinfectant.

3. Glass cleaner - in an empty container with spray nozzle (you can save by recycling empty containers), mix again vinegar and water, add to it lemon juice or a mild soap, spray the glass and polish with newspaper and again you will be surprised with the effect you don’t expect.

4. Bowl cleaner - pour white vinegar around the inside (or even outside) of the toilet bowl  and use brush to spread the vinegar while cleaning at the same time.

Good Quality Water – Part One (VIDEO)

Good Quality Water – Part One (VIDEO)

Water plays an important role in our lives. Our body is made up of 70-80% of water.

Danyelle Demchock talks with Morgan Gantt about the danger of using the tap water in our everyday use. It is important that we have and use good quality water in our everyday life.

The water we also use for shower is a tap water. Most people fail to realize that taking a typical shower can expose you to nearly ten times more chlorine (average 25 gals of water)  than you would receive by drinking unfiltered tap water all day Long. The disinfection by-products is far more dangerous than chlorine itself. In fact, exposure to the chemicals in your shower and the steam a hot shower produces, including chlorine can cause respiratory illness, liver and kidney disease, and a whole host of other health problems. Chlorine can also damage our skin and hair. So, to have good quality water in our bathrooms, get rid of the chlorine.

Logically, when you use water filters,  they are more economical on a per gallon billing than bottled water. The annual average cost of buying bottled water is relatively more expensive compared to the cost of acquiring and maintaining water filters.

MONEYSAVER: Tips to Save on your Wedding

MONEYSAVER: Tips to Save on your Wedding

It is every woman’s dream to have a grand wedding but with the credit crunch, the financial burden is a common thing to many and a lot of couples are finding wedding preparation a lot harder than it was.

The cost of the big day can be very high, and the bride and groom will usually pay for a large part of it themselves. Here are ways to save money and list of top wedding money-saving tips:

1. Set a budget

Decide how much you can afford to spend in total, draw up a budget and stick to it. Prioritize your expenses and save where you can.

2. Start saving

Your big day bills can be your lifetime burden, you don’t want that. So start saving where possible. Sacrificing to ditch everyday treats can save a small fortune.

3. Pick the date carefully

Weekday or out of season weddings can be a lot cheaper than on weekends in high summer because they are the most popular for weddings – and the most expensive.

4. Find a venue

Your choice of venue has a dramatic effect on your wedding budget.  You can transform somewhere smaller into a venue of your dreams. A church or village hall, perhaps the garden lounge of a friend or a relative,  could mean a more modest setting and a more modest bill.

5. Do it yourself

If you have an eye for design, make your own invitations and menus. Cut the cost of interior decorators – and at the same time add a personal touch to your big day – by doing up the venue yourselves.

6. Don’t dress to excess

A wow factor dress doesn’t have to cost a lot – what’s most important is how it fits and flatters. Consider affordable vintage dresses or opt for understatement and consider an elegant cocktail dress teamed with pretty accessories.

7.Think flowers

Save money on wedding bouquets by choosing in-season blooms and make your bouquet simple. Less pricey silk flowers can also look effective and now come in stylish hand-tied bouquets.

8. Haggle

Lastly, do not be afraid to haggle. It pays to negotiate with the suppliers especially during hard times that business is low.
